![]() Posting about the failing server perpetuates the problem. If new persons are looking for a server, check message boards and see ours... the entire first page is about how it's failing. You think they will want to join up on a supposed 'dead server'? I'm still having fun playing on the server... and if you aren't play something else.
Let this be the final post about the state of the server!

I agree that continual posts about it don't help, but it's an unrealistic battle when spurned noobs that couldn't handle the box keep trying to bring it further down out of spite. As if any sad incarnation of VZTZ could have pulled as many single-boxed characters at the birth of the server as R99 did. Fact is, Red99 is still up and stable, has a higher percentage of accuracy to vanilla than any other VZTZ box, which players on a CLASSIC vanilla forum should expect, and aside from cheaters/exploiters, all of our characters are intact and safe in the database with no fear of impending wipes. It's no real surprise that the population is where it's at today. We see about 10-20% the population that blue99 currently has, which is still a fair amount for the time of year, the new game titles coming out, etc. We were bound to see a large attrition rate after the first few months, simply because of that "new and shiny" feeling wearing off for a lot of people that joined that wouldn't be interested in pvp otherwise, as well as a lot of the emu pvp crew having to come to terms with how lazy they've gotten from playing previous emu boxes and no longer being able to (maybe never being able to?) handle actual vanilla-EQ emulated pvp. The rest of us that enjoy the challenge and time investment that was EQ PVP back in the mystical year of 1999 are still alive and enjoying the box.

![]() It's not so much the rate of exp that's the problem, though it's an issue, it's the fact that the server is a ghost town that makes getting exp impossible for many classes.

![]() what if what we enjoyed about classic eq was grouping? sure red99 is ez mode with a solo class, i mean you can pretty much find a whole zone to yourself. if classic eq is soloing your way to 50 then raiding then yes this server offers YOUR classic experience. if you are more of a grouper who likes to try dungeons or play a group oriented class you will not get the classic experience. if you are looking for wars between two to three huge guilds you will not get your classic experience.

![]() Perhaps rather than an across the board exp boost, some sort of large group bonus can be made, or hot zones in areas that basically require a group. Maybe an exp modifier to melees that makes them beneficial to group since the modifier is shared with group. Dunno, just throwing ideas out there. Not everyone wants to play a Druid or Mage.
