Host Private Project 1999 Server

Hi,

I want to play on a classic server pre-kunark era. Maybe with plane of hate and plane of fear. That's it. Preferably one that doesn't progress.

I learned abour project 1999 recently and I started on red server because I wanted that classic experience and the blue server was alrady in the kunark era.

However, I changed my mind after I got ganked one too many times with my newbie gear on.

Is project 1999 db avaible for download somewhere? I want to host a private "classic" server for my friends and I to play.

Actually, cloning a server is easy. I host a private server myself.

As for support. Just put up a disclaimer no support will be provided for this server, no?

But it would be so empty =). Although I suppose it would be kind of fun to have every zone to yourself. And it is kind of fun to earn every piece of gear you have.

We will get right on that. Cloning the server is easy enough, and with how short-staffed we are now, having JUST added some new guides, we would be more than happy to oblige.

What hardware would they host this server on? You're asking for something for nothing; despite that being what p99 is you want more.

I would be happy to provide the hardware, however, I was told p99 is closed source. Can p99 be closed source if EQEmu is open source, doesn't that violate open source? Anything made out of open source is usually open source as well in the development business. Depends on the license I suppose.

Depends on the license and the people involved.

I'm a developer over at EQEmulator and I can safely say that they're allowed to use our code for whatever purpose they want.

What isn't allowed however is people like you coming into our community and demanding that people make a server. Regardless of hardware or provisions needed, this project has goals and a random person's goals who wants to use their arrogance to achieve their own is not one of them.

You are welcome to use our code on your own EQEmulator server, though, and tweak it to be classic. That's completely fine, though, don't expect our support for making a fuss like this in one of our communities.
