Unhappy "Hyperspeed" issue

Hi there!! I'm super new! I just downloaded the game and fixed all the files as the Get Started page suggested. Everything loaded fine except I'm having one problem:
My character moves at a sort of super speed. On the character screen you can see her moving through the default actions VERY fast and when I'm in the world EVERYONE is moving very fast. My spells tick off WAY faster than they should and my food is eaten so quickly. I used to have this problem occasionally in the real EQ servers but this is 100% of the time on this server.
Has anyone encountered this? Or possibly know how to fix it? I can list my computer's specs but they are well above the min requirements.
I'm hoping there is a way to resolve this so I can get into the game

Thanks for the help =)
Coz

Maybe if you're running off a dual core processor, that could be the problem. You should look up Duxa's installer here on the forums theres an option on there that fixes that. Hope this helps :P

For those of you who have mutliple core processor computers and experience a speed up or slow down issue in game.. you can make it so that your computer only uses 1 core.
WARNING: This method is useful if all you do on the computer is play everquest. If you use it for other games/other activities i suggest you do not do this.

Start > Run
Type in: "msconfig" + hit enter after
Click the 'Boot' Tab
Choose '1' under processors
Hit 'Apply' + "OK" > "close"

It should prompt you for a restart, if not restart your PC.

Doing this will only allow your computer to use only one processor. This usually fixes the speed / slowpoke bug.

Hope this Helped!

Thank you both!
I tried the Duxa thing and it seems a bit outdated? I cant currently get into the game with its settings. So I went back and manually re-installed everything and was able to get back into the game. One thing that DID work was turning down my FPS to about 60 (prev @ 100). Animations are slow or unavailable but I seem to be able to play with a lot of lag. And the game boots me often.
How would I be able to tell if my computer is a dual processor?
someone mentioned that if I crtl/alt/delete and click to Preferences - a dual core would have two CPU graphs. If thats the case then I have a single core processor.
Really hoping to play this game but it looks like it will be too laggy with my current setup

Thanks again for the feedback!

Oh and if anyone is ever referencing this thread in the future, Duxa's thingie is here:

What makes you say it's out of date? Its updated, it relies on running eqemu shortcut for fresh installs to bring the game up to current patch. And if you already have a running copy you can use all of the other options in there.

So basically, if it's a fresh install, run option (1) which will run EqEmu to update the game.... If you have a running copy then use the other options without any worry.

I could be totally wrong about it being outdated. All i know is that when I ran option 1 and followed the instructions and then launched the game, the char select screen came up with an error message saying to download the most recent files from project1999.org
When I tried to run the EqEmu, I got an error message saying that I needed to download update files for EqEmu. I clicked "ok" and it tried to download, then got another error message saying something like "Need the latest version of .NET Framework"
I have no idea what that means lol
I'm not the most tech savvy person. I basically only got as far as I did with Project 1999 by following super strict orders from the Get Started page.
I'm still having the hypserspeed issue along with frequent crashes but I'm afraid I've run out of ideas on how to fix this =(

He has an option on there maybe 3 or so? that says "multicore processor fix" or something like that.

Thanks for all the replies, you guys! =) I'm so hopeful that I'll be able to play!

I tried the multicore option and it gave me a new desktop icon to click instead of the original (modified) shortcut. When I click on that my screen blinks for a moment but nothing else happens. It seems I can only access the game through the original shortcut. I also looked it up and my system is a single core processor.
Also: anyone notice if their version of Direct X matters? I'm pretty sure I'm current but maybe that is having an effect as well? Again, I'm no tech expert. I think I'm starting to guess random things now =p
