Freedom is the ultimate existential threat in that case. We can't stop that it allows for at least linear technological progress.

It's only a matter of time that any amount of knowledge would be enough to erase humanity.

In other words, freedom is the actual existential threat, not AI. And countries like north korea are a more fitting model, for the greater good.
