Ranger or SK?

Currently have an epic 57 ranger and 25 ish shadowknight want to get one of them to 60 for general plat farming such as to farm hill giants goblin skins and lower guk which one would suit me best ranger obviously much closer to 60 prob higher dps but sk has fd any thoughts appreciated!

I would level the melee you would rather play and get another farm class. The gear a pally or sk needs to touch a charm class or shaman is quite high. The SK and pally have methods to bypass trash mobs while a ranger (in most cases) or a Shaman do not.

Outside general fun and raid functionality, a ranger really only shines over the knights when you can do do stuff outdoor, usually with a bow. Anything you can snare and your index finger can survive, you can as well.

For droga I use my mage. Hill giants aren’t the plat camp they once were. A never would be better for most stuff. An enchanter better for 99% the game.

I have a necro as well was just trying to find an efficient way to farm the coin needed to get good gear for the sk but after reading your post it sounds like using the ranger to do so would be doable but difficult. Necro is 39 atm

The necro can make you good plat in HK while leveling to 44. Hit Grobb for like 45-52/3 and back to HK. Sell all the swords.

Your necro is pretty close to the point it will rival the ranger. With the 49 pet and splurt you can put down guards quite efficiently. Eventually head to WL and clean up Geos.

If you want a SK or Ranger I get it. They just need great gear to be as viable. A necro with a stack of bone chips and no gear will still cruise through greens and blues.

With their +13 regen, ac/hp buffs and damage shields 57+ rangers can really churn through mid level mobs. They also do well at the Forager cycle in Trakanon’s teeth and can handle frenzy spiders or frog ghouls, which is handy for infinite +5 regen bps and 20% hastes on your future alts. Very helpful to have the PoSky haste clicky in addition to the epics though. I’ve not found fungi necessary.

Yes, I read your OP. I replied with what I did on my ranger 55+ to provide experience based suggestions on what you should be able to do to farm some plat or desirable (liquid) items while including context of my own ranger’s set up.

Expanding, forager cycle has a few good loots actually. The iksar hide mask is pretty sought after too. Can walk away with 5 figures of easily flipped for pp items in not too much time. Velks has a fee other items you can solo to sell or twink, like the silver chitin wristbands.

Your post was helpful I like the idea of a ranger looting drops as his strength is maxed with self buffs and sometimes a vender or bank is far from a hunt so carrying lots of loot on a necromancer eventually catches up to you i.e lots of plat or swords I believe the banker in hk can be accessed with fd though assuming it doesn't fail!
