I think both require 10kpp+ worth of clickies and other game trivialuzing items in order to spend your nerd-bucks (dkp).

And Swish is right, this is more of a free-market system than communist... but instead of money you spend IRL weeks/months of your time farming gear that will soon be obsolete in the direct future.
