Default Blue has overtaken teal

This is the first time I have ever seen Blue outnumber teal. Blue is at 645 and teal is at 640. I guess it makes sense though. Classic EQ has relatively little to do for end game so once you hit 50 then what? Wait months for Kunark while killing time on Blue I guess.

MMOs were better before people came up with the concept of "endgame."

That said, the only people who are out of things to do on green or teal are probably either 1) unimaginative and boring, or 2) playing for 14 hours a day since launch.

Eh Idk if I'd agree with that. For me, I played a class or two on Green that I've never played on Blue. So once I'm done with those guys, there's not much for me to do on Green in the pre-Kunark and pre-planar era when gear is pretty limited.

Farm plat? Why? The servers will all eventually merge into Blue where I have plenty of plat.

Farm gear? As I said, the classic-era gear is pretty limited in terms of things that would be very good upgrades or otherwise aren't perma-camped.

Roll alts? Just to play a class I already have on Blue when I could just go play that alt on Blue?

Exactly I couldn't agree with you more. I keep waiting for this guy you've quoted to tell me what his characters names are so I can add them to my ignore list in game. His way of looking at things is something I've been at odds with since the days of live.

I have basically just been saying "have friends, have a good guild, explore and enjoy the game." And that's something you've been at odds with for the last 20 years?

What the hell are you even here for then? Lol.

I'm in a good guild. Friends? not interested. Friendly acquaintances in an online game I will do. There was a character I played with for years, player was named Carl. Character was Kodaan or denarel on povar. He died. His death caused me a good deal of pain and was the direct result of his own actions and habits that I knew nothing of cuz I didn't know him in real life so no I'm not interested in forming any kind of emotional attachment with anyone online that would grant them the title friend in my world but acquaintances are welcome.

Actually I do get what you're saying. I'm playing the other side and I'm telling you why I'm bored. I'm going to go level an the enchanter out of boredom.

Your argument is basically that I need to have friends and go sit in a group and help them get their stuff done and then I'll have fun. The thing is that's kind of dull when we're dealing with dungeons that are 20 years old that we spent a ton of time in back in the day.

And I cannot reiterate this enough. This is the most empty and boring time period between release and vellios end. That is simply objectively true there is less to do in the game now then there will be later. Realizing this I'm perfectly content having only being here to have my characters be level 50 when Kumar is released.

What really does bother me is that it destroyed blue. The economy is a dead at least some players are starting to return maybe it'll pick back up. Otherwise maybe I'll go try swg Legends until something is added to the game for me to do.

strong agree on all counts

fake edit: although if you played 14 hours a day you'd have been out of things to do by like mid november lmao

Yep.

UO: Skill based, online novelty.
EQ: A high fantasy D&D world.
DAOC: High fantasy PVP focused Realm vs. Realm
Shadowbane: Fantasy Guild vs. Guild
SWG: Skill based MMORPG set in the SW universe.
Earth & Beyond: 3 faction space exploration MMORPG.
The Matrix Online: (ughh) Kung fu silliness in cyberspace.

WoW: Fantasy theme park, needs more rides after riding the rides.
Puts the entire genre in a vacuum that nothing else can escape or exist in (including Pantheon).
I am Mr.T and I am a Night Elf Mohawk.

I would also go on to say that online interaction with developers have also screwed the dog. I didn't know who made my favorite PC games or anything else. I never considered logging on to a site to bitch, complain or squeal about what needs to be done. Their game was good or it wasn't. I think this is because we were coming from a time before the Internet could fix all problems with enough time given. Also consider that the same people, or type of person, will be the ones chewing the developers ears and as a result most of the games look or play the same way.

I do it now as well. Only I am not talking to any developers directly, do not participate in Q&A sessions nor do I really care if my opinions are heard. What I do participate in is mostly reactionary. I am content to not know anyone that makes something I enjoy and to ignore anyone or the games that do not interest me. The wild card here is online modders which is the only reason I ever picked up Oblivion. Modding is put in the uninterested category when its done the way it is now, which is online cash shops for skins. Buzz off Big Company, you suck.

I would argue that EQ invented the concept of the endgame. Before that, most MMO type games relied on pvp as a major cource of content (Meridian59, UO). Since Everquest was primarily a pve game, the hardcore would always gobble up the content and then bitch about having nothing new to do.
