Default Difference between Soothe and Calm

Hey all, I'm a 49 paladin and I have a question regarding Pacify spells.

I use atm Soothe spell (lvl 30 pally spell) which is doing vert fine in CoM atm.
I just dinged 49 and saw that i can now use Calm (lvl 49 spell).

Besides using more mana, why Calm would be better than Soothe ? (as I said, I have very few resists with Soothe atm).

Thanks for help !

without looking it up to be sure, I'd say it has to do with max level of mobs that it can effect.

These spells generally vary aggro radius reduction as well. The earliest ones in the line are small radius reductions. Later in the line you can stand almost right next to them and not aggro them.

I use Calm every time on my 57 Enc. No difference I have noticed in range or resist check. I would guess the higher level one has a longer duration, but that is kind of pointless unless you are doing some crazy long pull.

The difference is in the radius reduction. Lull, the first line in the spell, is sometimes not enough to separate mobs that are close to each other. Calm is pretty good but if you are sitting and the mob paths right over you it will aggro. Pacify means its nearly impossible to aggro even if you run directly through it.

Calm is the best combination of mana cost, radius reduction, and duration IMO

Don't forget Deepwater Arms have Soothe on them for mana free lulls.

Calm is the best aggro radius reducer in game. It lasts 3 minutes and you have to literally pass through the mob to aggro it. It is op. While I soloed wurm cloak in BW I would just cast calm on wandering mobs instead of killing them.

Think ass/sup room. You can calm the 3 mobs there and fight all of them in that tiny room without additional aggro; it's ridiculous.
