![]() I've been looking through the rules on the forums and I'm left unsure what "engaged" means. I'm talking about random trash in random zones, not raid or even group content. Let's pretend we're talking about fire beetles in a newbie zone.
At which point is a mob engaged: a) player is sitting down, mob spawns on top of him and starts beating on him b) player's pet takes a swing but MISSES! c) player stands up and casts either a stun/mez/root/fear/snare... it's RESISTED! d) player swings and MISSES! e) player's pet hits the mob f) player lands stun/mez/root/fear/snare g) player damages mob Is it "a"? That's my guess but I'd like to hear from the experts. On a related note, when is a mob back on the market? What if the player feigns or mem blurs? Additionally, with roamers that spawn at static locations at static times in outdoor zones, these are generally considered FFA correct? Can a person sit at one spawn point and "claim" that spawn as a camp? If someone sits around at one beetle spawn point waiting for it, is it their camp or do they have to still FTE the fire beetle after it spawns?

![]() ,Typically 'engaged' relates to if the mob has aggro on you. A mob is 'unengaged' if ors patching is restored to normal or if it has 0 aggro on anyone else. Doing a-g is engaging a mob.
In regard to FFA roamers I guess you are referring to WL where people commonly Camp a specific location? On blue we usually don't bother. Its one mob every 7-14 minutes. If they are keeping the Ph down then I assume the spawn camped and move on. There are better things you can be doing than fte'ing "fire beetles"

![]() Thanks for the input. It may seem like minutia but I'm genuinely curious.
I found another post on the subject which seems to suggest FTE requires landing a damaging spell, but only in the case of Seafuries in OOT (see https://www.project1999.com/forums/a.../t-191648.html). Personally, I tend to assume a mob is tagged after I see any scenario (a)-(g).

![]() Quote:
On seafury island, it becomes very easy to see who has FTE most of the time simply by watching the mob's body movements. A clops that sprints east and turns around west on a second person is being agroed by someone who lost FTE. You have every right to chase that mob down and kill it. The thread you're linking seems to suggest that some staff member in some thread said damage was required. Staff makes shitty rules sometimes and there's no evidence of any staff member actually saying that in what you linked. That's not the general understanding of FTE and it's perfectly acceptable to agro something with a snare, prox agro, etc.
