Default New shaman - armor question

Just started again as an Ogre shaman (played a 55 enc and 58 monk from Beta - Vel) and so far the community has been great. Having some technical issues (video card) but otherwise no problems. I lost my body due to a game crash in a rainstorm and the necro who found me gave me some plat to get me started, leading to my question:

Brand new shaman with 100pp what do I buy? Leaning towards some banded armor or basic jewelery. Going to get 5 (so I can gate) and sneak up to the tunnel, just curious what I should be looking for and prices.

Thanks!

Welcome Yttrium! Banded is always a safe bet for starter armor. I'd go that route.

Regarding crashing, you may want to look into WinEQ 2.xx Lite. It's free and resolves a many video issues. For me, with = never crash, without = crash and burn all the time.

Banded armor then save for spells and 5ac55hp rings or maybe a cheap but effective weapon.

Also Ytt, check out the links below when you have time. The wiki is a great source for planning your goals. As Troxx noted, start saving for AC/HP rings after you've gotten your banded set. It's worth noting that if you do the totemic armor quests, you must use medium banded which is just labeled "Banded" for turn ins. Using large or small banded pieces will result in failed turn ins. You will also want to pick up a "Magic" weapon early on. There are plenty like a Wraith Hammer (sells for 50ish PP) or Beetle Stinger (sells for 100ish PP) in the tunnel. Best of luck on your journeys!

Banded will get you far. 5/55 will get you really far. Spells are the most important. Wraith bone hammer is good and cheap wep.

Banded sets usually run ~100pp if you can find someone to make it (the large molds aren't available in FP I don't believe, so it'll make it hard to find someone). But it's hard to afford spells until after you start vendoring bronze/fine steel in your 20s. Here is what I would do:

(1) Use it to buy your spells up to around level ~24, then run to EC.

(2) Level there in ORC 1 / ORC 2 groups or beg buffs at the tunnel to solo. With a HP buff, a druid ds or a clarity you can solo without any real gear.

(3) Look for people giving away stuff, which happens a lot. You don't need to buy a wraithbone hammer, people will offer to give away similar quality gear.

(4) Sell CB belts if anyone is buying.

Hopefully by the time you level enough to leave EC, around level 12-14, you'll have some starter gear and your spells to last awhile.

Or just go to NK gypsy camp and turn in lightstones (willowisps are like lvl11 I think) for mad xp and 100's of plats a level (from sellback reward items). Good xp into the lower 20's.
