Concerned Citizens of Norrath v Parties Responsible for Waking the Sleeper
Greetings and thanks for reading! Clicking on this thread demonstrates your knowledge that you either already know waking the sleeper has negative consequences, or that you intend to learn if it is bad before you participate in such. Now that you're trapped by my deep knowledge of Norrathian common law, you should be aware that:
This is a public notice that any person, group, guild, or any alliance of such that Wakes the Sleeper will be held liable by the citizens of Norrath (and any players of p99 who wish to participate) for any damages that incur as a result of his wakening. It is absolutely clear, and has been demonstrated by past events and acknowledgement from the gods of this world, that waking the sleeper will result in an awful rampage through many areas of the world that will deliver the same destruction that has been seen in the past. No reasonable person can claim to wake the sleeper and be ignorant of the damage that will result. Therefore they must be held liable as far as is practical. As a result, this is a call to the silent majority who are not participating in efforts to wake this brutal killer to organize now and get in the best position possible to make a claim for the inevitable restitution that will be needed to clean up this mess. We make the following demands: A. Any character killed by the Sleeper or a mob spawned as a result of the wakening must be made whole in the form of a speedy 96% rez as well as a weregild determined by the level of the character, 20pp flat + 2pp per level. Multiple deaths = multiple payments/rezzes. B. No character in any guild responsible for unleashing this terror can claim any contested camp in any zone for 2 hours after the sleeper rampages through that zone, and must abandon any previously held camps for the same two hour period if someone else shows up to claim them. This is to assure that no innocent person may lose a camp or potential slot in a camp as a result of the massacre. This also will help to satisfy the many who will be driven from previous camps and need refuge elsewhere. C. Any character who is in a guild responsible for this slaughter must accept that they may be blacklisted, either publicly or privately, from some private services and abandon any future claim to force said services to resume service. If a character does *not* participate in the wakening but remains in company of those that do for 48 hours, they can expect to be included. D. In the event that their actions spawn dragons that hinder the travel of innocent civilians (examples: gore, woushi) those responsible for said wakening must quickly mobilize and eliminate these threats, or at minimum make two good faith attempts at each. Having gained access to the Sleeper's Tomb and killing the guardians, they can not claim insufficient strength as a reason to neglect keeping the roads open for others. E. Acceptance that due to the unpredictable nature of this event, other grievances may be filed by groups, guilds, or single entities depending on how it plays out. They have the right to have these heard and considered by an appropriate 3rd party in a timely fashion. Litigator calls on any guild leadership that disagrees with this template to respond now with your propositions and justifications for any changes to the repayment plan. Failure to respond to this public notice will be taken as an acceptance of the terms. Lastly I would like to extend an offer: Use this calm before the storm to mitigate the potential social fallout from this decision.
