Default Newb question -stuck at Logging in to Server

Hey all,

Just DLed, installed, made all the mods, and everything seemed great.

I changed the resolution under the options and got the game to load to the login screen. After I type in my info, I get to "Logging in to Server - Please Wait", then nothing happens. My computer also slows right down as if a ton of resources are being used.

Here's the first part of my dxdiag:

Time of this report: 11/24/2010, 13:31:53
Machine name: T-D
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.100608-0458)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Acer
System Model: Aspire 5516
BIOS: Ver 1.00PARTTBL
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-42 (2 CPUs), ~1.6GHz
Memory: 3070MB RAM
Page File: 1779MB used, 4601MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 32bit Unicode

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to get back to the oldschool EQ [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks!

Post your eqhost.ini, sounds like you're not seeing the login server. Are you behind a firewall or have a software firewall installed that might be blocking port 5998...

See:

Mg

I have used a couple of online port-checkers, and they tell me that 5998 is closed. I disabled windows firewall and opened the ports on my wireless router, but I still get the message that it's blocked.

Whenever I change anything in the seperate options window I cannot log in at all. I found that if I reset the resolution back to minimum it lets me log in, then I can switch it to what I want in game.
