Default Starting new too late?

Recently i tried a TLP daybreak server and it was not the experience i was looking for. Then i discovered this Project 99 and this looks exactly like what i want. My question is: since Velious is now live here and that is considered end game with no more expansions to come, am i too late to start fresh? Is there an plan for a new server that starts back at the beginning? I'd just like to know in advance because i'd hate to put a lot of time in only to come in too late. Cheers.

The staff basically has a year's worth of patches to implement. And they don't implement them as quickly as they were implemented on live. If I had to guess, and I'm likely far less informed than many other people here, I'd say it will take them roughly 2 years to implement the year's worth of patches. Once that final patch hits, nobody knows for sure what will happen, but the least likely of all possibilities is the server simply being shut down. Maybe it will be frozen in time there for years to come, maybe they'll add custom content, maybe they'll even cave on their entire purpose for this server and implement further expansions (very unlikely unless staffing changes), who knows.

No matter how long it lasts, I'm sure it won't last forever. But there should be many years still left, and that should be plenty of time to do whatever you want. The server is full of players at all levels, grouping is easy enough to find, there are casual guilds and hardcore guilds, raiders and non-raiders. It's all here, and the only thing I think it's literally too late for are classic/Kunark server firsts and acquiring items that no longer drop. Other than that, have fun!

I concur with this. Really, just play and enjoy yourself. This server was on Kunark for years, and will likely be on Velious for many years. There is no rush for anything.

Just avoid EC as much as possible and focus on the 80% of the population that are there for the social aspects.

Its never too late to start on this server. A friend of mine just started playing on this server last night. The community on this server is pretty good with the exception of the politics involved with end game raiding. You are far from venturing down the end game raiding road, but you can definitely get there. Just keep your chin up and ask folks for buffs :-P

Never too late to start ^^ there has been discussion if a potential green99 server that may launch in the future, following a classic timeline. Characters from there would be dumped to blue99 at the end of the green99 classic timeline at which point green99 would be reset. There has been no indication that blue99 is going anywhere any time soon^^ and it is very easy to get started there.

If you are looking for classic gameplay, are a casual, or have limited time i would suggest rolling one character on blue99 and one on red99 (the pvp server). You can play the red character during any downtime you have on blue ^^ and while pvp that aspect is somewhat minimized while it boasts a much greater classic nature than blue99 despite a significant XP bonus which has its merits ^^

Welcome aboard and good luck!

Definitely not too late. You will be happy that you joined. IMO it is the best decision to join a leveling guild, they are often large and full of players that are new just like you and players that are knowledgeable so that you can ask questions in guild chat.

It's never too late, the server can never have too many clerics, enchanters, and tanks

As many have already said, it is certainly not too late to start. There are still plenty of lower lvl people lvling up (some alts, some not) in dungeons/around. I recently started up a troll shaman, no twinking and just going through at my own pace.
