I've had a great time since coming back to red from blue raiding and PVPing with these guys. I've started recording my gaming and while we were forming up for Raijiin's Necro epic fight I captured a candid moment on Teamspeak when Gongshow layed out the past, present, and future vision of Holocaust guild.

The discussion in this video is highly encouraging. Makes me reconsider playing on red99.

I quit my 60 chanter with a full spellbook because of the toxic community. If you want an example of what I am talking about, just read some of the comments in this thread. I understand that you might be joking, or just forumquesting, but it gets old, fast. I am not going to play a game with people that annoy me.

Swyft is likely the most annoying person on the server, both in game and forumquest. He has to be acting out some kind of kaufmanesque performance art, otherwise, well this isn't rants-n-flames so I will leave it at that. Mad? No. I said annoyed. And it had nothing to do with EQ the game or the server rule set, it was the community. Sooo many toxic personalities on this server.

In a way, I love red99, cause it keeps y'all off the other servers. So pras red99!

Now a days I just peruse the red99 forums out of morbid curiosity. Kind of like watching a really messed up reality TV show.

Unlike "new competitive games" this 16 year old game isn't chalked full of tool tips to hold your hand and tell you everything you need to know. The information is out there, don't get me wrong. However, if the skill ceiling really is low, the game isn't nice about teaching it to you.

A small mistake may mean exp loss, long and dangerous CRs, and sometimes even ridicule from the elitist members of community.

Have you ever died at the bottom of Dalnir, or any dungeon? Good luck getting your corpse back unless you got the skills and willpower and to get there alone and naked. Even if you have invis, shit sees invis. even if you FD Mahfuckas cast spells so you got to time it just right.
