Default I need help with pick pocketing notes for Rogue Epic

So I'm trying to pick pocket the notes in the first part of the Rogue Epic Quest.

I'm level 51 and I have a DE illusion mask, so I attempted to pick pocket Tani N'Mar in Neriak first, since I'm close by.

Well, my first attempt ended in a death. Everyone made it seem so easy, but maybe I wasn't prepared.

So what I did was I got behind Tani N'Mar (with my DE illusion on) and I both Hide and Sneaked. Then pick pocketed. I failed about 4 times, going back into Hide & Sneak each time. Then I critically failed and somehow got out of the Rogue guild before dying. Turns out running away from backstabbing Rogue guild masters is dangerous.

So, what did I do wrong? I've heard that I should get stat buffed. Should I sneak but not Hide?

Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

It just takes a few tries. The NPCs don't always have the parchment. Sometimes you need to wait for them to respawn. I'd suggest trying a few pick pockets, then if you don't get a parchment, coming back in several hours.

So, I'm doing everything correct then?

It will just take a couple of more tries and/or deaths?

Are there buffs I could use that will increase my pick pocket chances? Like DEX or CHA?

Just RNG.

I would suggest trying 5-10 times. If you don't get the parchment, camp and wait for them to respawn at 8 AM or 10 PM.

Spamming for 20 tries will just get you killed. Personally I stop after 4-5 tries and try again later since there is a very high chance he spawned without the parchment if after 5 tries he didn't give me it.

Run down, target him, run back to the roof and pickpocket from up there that way you can run straight out on crit fails. I think they still have the z-axis messed up and he might take a few swings at you but it's better than trying to get out of his room alive.

I wish people would stop suggesting this exploit.

When Mobs are relatively close together and facing the same direction (or at least not facing oppositie directions), this is when sneak pulling is the most possible.

What you do is have sneak/hide on, inch up behind the target you want (the closer of the two with it's back to you), and hit your range attak until it goes off. As soon as it goes off and you fire at the mob, keep stepping backwards. WHen you fire, you will unhide but will continue to sneak. The mob will then come towards you, but by the time it gets to you and breaks your sneak you are out of the aggro range of the other mobs you don't want to pull. THerefore, you've just singly pulled from 2+ mobs standing next to each other.

Can you drop your sneak pulling crusade yet?

Trick is very classic, was at least widely used during 2001.

Yep and I thought it was stupid back in 2001 also. It's a dumb exploit that removes the risk from one of the few exciting parts of the epic.
Stop suggesting it. Let the new rogues die and appreciate their epic more because of the struggle.
