Talking Hello from a veteran player!

I started playing EverQuest in the summer of 1999 and it took all of five levels on my first character (enchanter named Arabella on Xegony server) to become hooked on the game. I was in the military at the time, which is the only reason I didn't quit my job and play EQ full-time until I became a homeless bum on the streets. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in the summer of 2000, I really concentrated on EverQuest and had the best times playing the game. I was so addicted by 2003 that I really risked losing my job and my apartment. It was pathetic, I admit. So, I left EQ and spent the last dozen years levelling as an adult, but I'm proficient at that skill now, so I've decided to come to Project 1999 and start having fun again.

I'm currently torn between levelling a wood elf bard and a human cleric. I love the unforgiving nature of the game and have zero problem with the constant grinding. That's just part of EQ's charm. I guess this post is my long-winded way of saying hello again and I hope to see you all in-game sometime!

Welcome to the server. I hope this time your "leveled" up adult experience will help you not become so addicted to the EverCrack.

Play whatever class you feel like experiencing this time around. If you want some statistics (be it a little outdated) as to how much of each class is represented on the server here you go.

Thank you for the welcome and the link. I'm sure my experience will be less addicting this time around. I think a lot of what made EQ so addicting back in 1999 and 2000 is the newness of the genre. I hadn't experienced anything like it and I couldn't get enough, but now it's just a game—a great, fun game—but a simple game nonetheless. Plus, I have the added benefit of working in a career that allows me to play EverQuest while doing my job.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain I'll be playing my Wood Elf Bard (Qebec) for the long haul. I played one to level 35 back in 2003, so I have a little familiarity with the class, which should help me get through the newbie levels.
