Default skilling fletching

I picked up my first trade skill and i noticed I can't seem to level above 40 fletching skill. Is it just bad luck, I'm following the guide and tried the next thing higher from what i was suppose to be using.

I'm level 18 is it somewhat based on level? I went to warrior trainer to see if I could skill it up and it said you need "advanced" fletching or something like that to gain skill.

Keep working on arrows, I don't know what's slowed you down on it. The trainer will only train to 21-26 or something.

For most tradeskills there is a cap as you level but it should be 90 or something at level 18? (in line with your melee skills etc).

Which combine are you doing?

I'm a troll with just natural wis/int. How much does say 20pts add to my skill gain? IS there a time when i should stop and start looking for int. and What is better int or wis for troll war? I have higher wis but maybe int is cheaper to get, i dont know.

The way EQ does tradeskills, it doesn't matter between Wis or Int. Whichever score is higher is used to determine a skillup (not a success).

But for Fletching, Dexterity is also considered: so whichever is higher, between Wis/Int/Dex.

Troll warriors don't really need Int or Wis, but Dex is good.

Also, make sure you are using the right arrow components to match your
current fletching skill. If you are trying to make arrows that are "trivial"
for your skill, you will not get any skill ups. Try to make arrows with the
cheapest components possible and still allow skill ups to save money.

The P99 Wiki has a nice fletching guide also;

I have an iksar warrior that does fletching (approx 170atm)

You lose hundreds of plat on stacks of some combines but you do skill up nicely.
I barely have any plat to buy lunch but I make some sweet arrows, hahah

yeah i found it was just bad luck by taking more than a whole stack to raise to 41 after that it was about 2-3 skill ups per stack of consumables.

Once you can make this arrow... parabolic, wood shaft, small nock, field tip, stop. You don't need extra dmg and those arrows fly as far as any you can make.
Dirt cheap too. Trivals at 56.
