Click on shortcut and...nothing

Followed the step-by-step instructions on the "Getting Started" guide 3 times, didnt work. Then tried following the steps in the Technical Discussion section 3 times, didnt work.

I click on the shortcut, screen goes black like game is loading and cursor changes and then nothing happens. Game sits there and does nothing. Any ideas??

The answer actually was that my eqini file was completely empty somehow. Like, nothing at all was in it.
