Soda but the regional dialect in Florida is coke

In New Mexico, everyone refers to a soda as "coke". Doesn't matter if it's Mt. Dew, Dr. Pep, Sprite, whatevs - they call it a "coke". So dumb.

in da south where I am mostly referred to as "drinks" other non soda types are labled water, juice, weird but just how its been said in my family

Is "pop" vs "soda" maybe an age thing? Both my mom and I grew up in Colorado, but she calls it pop and I call it soda.
