Default Porting Etiquette

So I just got told by a druid today that I am on his "Do not port" list. He couldn't remember why he put me on his list, but as a new player I really don't want to be "that guy". I can only imagine that I broke some kind of porting etiquette that I have no idea about. Are there any general rules on how to deal with druids who are doing ports for you?

I'm a new player so I don't have much money, but as far as I can remember I tip 10-15p unless I'm on a CR and literally have 0p until I get my corpse. Should I not bother asking for ports unless I can tip 50p or more?

that druid sure sounds like a d-bag if you're a new player decked out in cloth.

I've put annoying people in EC on ignore before, thus placing them on my do not port list.

Outside of that the only other way to get on my list is if I do a port and don't get at least a thank you from it. I can understand not having money - that's cool and I give free ports to folks all the time, sometimes spending hours to help folks. But if you can't even say thank you to me - that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I don't expect one if I randomly SoW someone, but porting - you're in the group with me - you cant even pretend you don't know I am porting you.

Outside of that I am pretty easy going. It's rare someone gets placed on my do not port list.

As far as payment goes, in my opinion donations are just that, donations. I have never put a price on a port. Whatever you want to pay me, that's what you pay me. If that's nothing then that's fine - just say thank you!

This.

Usually when people offer a tip I just decline anyway since when I am porting people it's because I have free time and I don't mind taxing random people around. Even when people offer up 100+ I usually don't take it. My druid is my main, and I do other things with him when I do play. And I have far better ways of making money than porting. However if I see someone trolling chat, acting like a complete tard, or with the "Knights who say Ni" guild tag, I simply don't port them.

Not saying you are any of those things, sometimes people just get people mixed up or they had a bad night. Porting druids are like grains of sand on a beach, it's not hard to find another if one won't port you.

As to ettiquette, just remember some druids bank on this as a source of revenue. Most of the time, if you really can't tip, a simply thank you is fine. But always remember it's common place to tip for a port. 5-10p if you are a true newbie, 20-40 if you are a twink is what I tend to see for tips.

Donations mean donations, if they don't set an amount that can be as little as a thanks.

There are asshat players out there in all shapes and sizes, druids are no exception. Don't let it get to you. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As you can see, I have only a few posts all within the last couple of weeks. I made an account in 2010 and got a Bard to level 12. I had a couple of instruments and a few worthless pieces of armor. Quit and just came back recently with a friend to play for real. We started fresh and don't really have much yet.

Thanks to everyone else for the advice. I won't take it too personally since I don't know exactly what I did. I'll just try to be nice to my druids in the future!

Confirmed by you and you alone... I don't even have a IP exemption to two-box. GM's can confirm that one.

Your random troll hate for me is amazing. I should almost feel proud... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
