Default Spell effects gone despite being enabled

I have spell effects enabled in every way I can think of, but they don't show in-game. I've got the particles on in options and /showspelleffects on and everything. I suspect I'm missing some files or something, but everything else works as it should. What gives?

Have you run the launcher to make sure your files are all working properly?

If so, open up your "eqclient.ini" file (make sure its definitely the P99 folder you play from, not EQlive, or anything else) and scroll down until you see "ShowSpellEffects=x", which is about 10% of the way down. I've got x as 1 on mine, and spells were working fine last I logged in. If it isn't 1, change it to 1...and see if that does anything.

Failing everything else, it might be a good idea to run Duxa's Installer - you can customise all kinds of things (spell gems, the UI, etc). It doesn't say it on there but I'm sure my spell effects were changed to an older 1999 look when I ran it one time [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There's nothing in Duxa's Installer for spell effects, just icons. I've tried all the other things. It used to work and I haven't tampered with anything, so I have no clue what might have caused this.

download "Eqemu Launcher" from http://moestaverne.com/ Then check to see if you have spellsnew.eff and spellsnew.edd in your sony EQ folder. If you don't, shoot me a PM with your email.

I have both of those. I guess I'll just "obtain" the iso again and do a new install.
