Default /pet guard and "gate"

if you let your pet guard somewhere and use the gate spell in the same zone , the pet will instantly follow you and ignore the /pet guard command until you type this command again .

(infos:lvl 49 pet in oot , char is bound in oot too, using "gate" spell, 100 % to repicate with several chars )

Default Pet ignoring 'guard here' after gate

When you tell pet to guard a location it stays there and no longer follows you. If you gate across the zone however, pet will run across zone after you unless you immediately tell it to guard again.

Well, your pet probably doesn't listen to subsequent guard commands because you're too far away from him for him to respond to ANY commands.

You misunderstand. You /pet guard here BEFORE gate and it stays. You could run across the zone and he wont move. But as soon as you gate he is no longer guarding. After gate if you /pet guard here again he will stay (meaning distance does not matter).
