Need to get myself set up on a 56k dial up network and have to stare at the ground in many of the zones as I walk or risk freezing. ;p Classic!
I still remember buying a 32MB Voodoo video card and then walking around Highpass Hold impressed at the graphics improvement. I know I had to have LD'd out three or four times a day playing back in 99-00.

Install Traffic Shaper XP and throttle your internet to around 40k (I never saw a modem or isp that actually got you the full 56k) and you can relive it again, LD's and all!

Or heaven forbid other people were actually near you..
Part of the reason guilds were smaller and didnt throw 40+ people at a dragon was because having that many in one spot would basically crash the zone instanly which ='d a guaranteed wipe.

I was a small guild's main tank on a 28kbit connection with a 4mb integrated video card.
Currently I played my monk from 1-36 on a 20kB satellite connection where I'm lucky if my ping is under 900. The ping + broken pathing is the reason I deleted him and quit playing.
