Default /auc channel limit?

I had an idea.

shut up Nocte, no one knows you or cares about your ideas.

Ok, so anyway.

What if we put a limit on the auction channel so that buyers and sellers can only post once or twice every 10 minutes? Instead of seeing the same sellers every 10 seconds (and since you can't stop them from spamming their crap even when it's obvious that no one's interested) as their previous "ad" is out of the chat window, there would be a 10-minute record of what's available that players could check for if they are interested in buying something.

It might make more players available to actually PLAY EverQuest on P99 instead of feeling like they have to compete with the crazy scrolling WTS WTB ticker that has become the auction channel. Players can auction gear while in groups if they're only doing it every 10 minutes.

Anyway, I figured I'd just suggest a tweak to something that is outside the scope of classic content.

I have multiple macros I use mix and match for auctioning, depending upon what I need for crafting and what I have in stock. So ya, thats not gonna work for anyone like me.

I have auction in its own window, so it pisses me off when I see auctions in my OOC box. If it were up to me people who auction in OOC would be squelched for 2 hours per offense.

This actually isn't a bad idea, I think, because people who spam their shit every 15 seconds get annoying as hell.

Agreed people who auction in OOC should have some form of punishment.

As far as the auction spam goes, keep in mind people have different sized auction boxes too, so what might look like to me as keeping an auction on my screen, it could be spamming it 2 or 3 times on someone elses.

It comes down to etiquette really, not something you can enforce persay.

And yes, i am as guilty as anyone at spamming [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Allowing a single small burst (3 messages) of /auction every X minutes or so would work.

Honestly, the current level of /auction spam doesn't bother me.

People can spam all they want as long as they keep it in the auction channel. Those of you who do it in OOC can eat a bag of dicks.

/ooc WTS bag of dicks.

I r funny yes?

I just /ignore people who repeatedly auction in ooc, t'is easy enough. If you think it's worth getting ignored just to have your auction seen elsewhere then good luck to you.

There are one or two repeat offenders the server has that I hope die from some painful obtrusive parasite.
