![]() It seems that people really wanted a classic server with good exp etc. What boggles my mind is that we already had this in K&B and RED69. You had classic with devs who were working on content daily and would respond fast to posts. Granted K&B had a small twist, but they had leader boards, rewards for pvp and teams. I think it would have been better if it were just a modified good vs evil instead of 4 teams.
If people stuck around, we would have had Kunark and Velious content by now and a huge population. Other than things like Nexus being in the game and translocators, why did people turn their back on the server?

![]() Rust1d?: You make one of these threads like every 2 months, and it's obvious that you are one of the two devs (either devnoob or image).
I have already responded to this before but Ill do so again 1.) The timing on "red69" could not have been any worse -- coming after the shutdown of Secrets little VZTZ clone, and prior to the launch of the looming red99. Most players were going to take a pass on your server and wait for red99 which was being developed by the main eqemu guy (Rogean) who had a track record of professionalism and stability compared to other "running this off a spare box out of my garage" sandbox devs who had lesser resources and reputation. 2.) You named it "red69". Unless you were trying to attract 12 year olds who still think the 69 number is hilarious + outrageous, all this did was make you look even less legit in light of the upcoming red99. For naming convention: VZTZ == good. Guild Wars == good. Red69 == bad. 3.) K&B was plainly custom. When you make the choice to go custom, you say goodbye to a huge % of your potential players. I think custom servers can work but it's a much higher mountain to climb that takes a longer time and word of mouth from players convincing other players that this non-classic server is worth playing and not just some hacky aimless crap a bored CS major cobbled together. I empathize with all the guys trying to make custom servers work (Secrets included) but it's a lot harder to sell on people. Most just want the classic EQ they remember.

I understand however when people DID get real classic, they did not want it. K&B had leader boards and rewards for PVP. These things encouraged pvp. In Red 99, people avoid it at all costs. It could have been more thought out, but I think they rushed it to beat Red99.

![]() Kings and Bandits was a classic pvp server made by Image and Devnoob. They had 4 teams and you would get coins for pvp kills which you could use to buy items. For example, you could buy a guise for 2 coins.
