Default EQ Launcher problem? halp pl0x

So im trying to get my real life friend into this, myself, him, and our other friend are all playing with exception to him, when he runs the EQEmuLauncher it doesn't show a server list? ( He is running it in Windows Vista ), im sure someone already made a thread about this somewhere but searching through over 100 pages of posts is tragic to say the least.

So i told him to just change the host file manually then open it and log in and select project 1999 on the server screen, this is where problem 2 arouse.
His server screen showed up blank. I also used to get this problem with like a billion logins sometimes it would show the list.

His EQEmuLauncher says Cannot connect to EQEmulator.net or w.e so it doesn't show the server lists. and then says trying again in 30 seconds. if anyone knows how to fix this would be much appreciated.

Windows Vista, and a fresh EQ Titanium install.

Also when it asks him to update it because his version is 1.22 it finishes the update then tells him it didn't work?

I just had a simliar problem trying to get the eqemu launcher to connect to update itself. It wasnt showing any server list for me and wouldn't patch. Im using windows 7 also. I just ran the Eqemu launcher as an administrator and it worked fine np at all. Hope this helps with your problem.
