Default Brand New Laptop Help *PLZ*

Wife old Win XP system gave up after many years.
Sooo.. I bought her a brand new laptop (she wanted the laptop this time instead of a desktop)

This is what it is:
Intel Core i3
4 gig DDR3
500gig HD SATA
Win 7 64 bit home
NVidia Geforce 440 w/1gig of DDR3 dedicated memory
Dell
pritty nice laptop..

I didn't think it would have any problems considering I run mine on my new desktop from dell with Win 7 64 Pro with no problems what so ever.
Difference between my system and hers is mine has an AMD phenon quad core and a Radeon Video Card instead of an Nvida (still didn't think that would make a difference.

I get her up and running though and this is the problem.
Some sort of graphics pixel glitching. I can get in the game and everything. Doesn't look like there are any of the dual/quad core problems. No char sliding or speeding / warping or anything. Graphics are just... twitching really bad. Make it hard to see clearly any text or anything. It just bad enough to where it makes it hard to play at all.

I noticed it had DirX 11.. Went to microsoft and installed DirX SDK with previous versions of DirX because I know you have to have like DirX 9.0 in order to run EQ. Didn't work. I notice for some reason I can't do the compatability to like Win XP or Win 98 or 95... I get a memory error when I do ( I read after many hours searching that the new Intel chips can't visualize so you get a memory error when you try to change the compatability) ... I'm stumped at this point.
Help plz?
I would love to play EQ again with my wife and can't aford just to get another system. Anyone heard of this or can help?
