Question Questions: melee accuracy + hitbox

Doubt I'll get a straight up response to any of this, but here goes:

Does DEX affect accuracy for normal melee? (iirc it shouldn't as I remember this being parsed by monks back in the day and it only affected ranged accuracy).

Is there some kind of hybrid penalty for melee accuracy?

I went from monk to paladin and I seem to miss at least 50% of the time fighting blues + the occasional even con. I hit for something close to max damage about 25% of the time

I had just hit 5 here so my skills weren't maxed yet but were close enough. This is like every fight:

Does the melee hitbox seem like absolute shit here to anyone else (compared to what it was on live)? It's less forgiving than I ever remember it being. If you have an agro NPC (like a skeleton), they run into you and you have to actually back up to even hit it because the hitbox is so stingy.

TLDR: Playing a melee here seems even harder than it was on live + I whine incessantly.

I'm going to actually parse this when I get a little higher to see if the hit rate is not as bad as I think it is (+ see how it is in PvP).

My rogue just hit 30 and I'm just starting to do dmg, so yeah it's hard out there and hope u got buddys, or at least got the ability to force yourself on some guildy mages/pledges.

I should add, now at 30 I'm hitting at least 2 times per round and quite often quadding, and backstabbing for 80-100 with a 7 dmg MH. But yeah I started out like this missing everything.

DEX should not be affecting melee accuracy.

"STATS EXPLAINED, APRIL 9, 2000"

In working with the people doing the strategy guide for Kunark we decided to provide them with general information as to what the stats do.
I'm going to post them here.

This is a change in the sense that we were not going to discuss them or release more info. We changed our minds.

That said, we're not posting any formulas, and it's absolutely true that some stats have considerably more direct impact on gameplay than others.

We're posting this for clarification, and because previous explanations have not been accurate (manual, etc). We will not, however, engage in debate and our stance on how much some stats affect game play is that it's by design to inhibit some aspects of twinking. Are there better attribute systems out there? Yeah, but we're not going to change something as fundamental as a stat system in EQ after the game's been out for more than a year.

Anyway, here you go:

DEX: how quickly you learn weapon skills; how often weapon will proc; how quickly you learn rogue skills; how hard you hit with bows

STR: determines how much you can carry; influences maximum and average damage; influences how quickly you learn many offensive skills

STA: affects how many hit points you have, how long you can hold your breath

INT: directly affects how quickly you can learn most skills; affects the amount of mana for bards and all mages, as well as shadow knights

WIS: affects the amount of mana the priest classes have, also rangers; also affects how quickly you can learn many skills if your wisdom is higher than INT.

CHA: affects amount you will be paid for goods by NPC merchants, and how much they will pay you; affects the saving throw on certain bard and enchanter spells (charms in particular)

AGI: affects how quickly you can learn some defensive skills, how difficult it is to hit you as well as how much damage you take when you are hit

yeah I'd just like to know what the differences are, not stumble upon them + regret how I spent my starting stats.

Dex has zero impact on your chance to hit. Zero. This fact has proven again and again by parses on Steelwarriors (the main warrior msg board) and other boards. It's a dead issue. What you subjectively thought you saw as your battle spam streamed by doesn't really matter. You have to parse it and people have, many, many times. The effects of dex are known.

i could be totally wrong but, i think you are missing so often purely on account of you only being lvl 5 and therefor ur 1HS or 2HS weapon skill only being only like 25.

once your 1HS or 2HS weapon skill is like 100-150+ you should miss way, way less.

if i am right about this then technically doesn't matter if your skill is maxed for your lvl, because you will still miss alot by virtue of the fact that ur skill is still so low

I am a newbie fuck =(

Rly curious about pvp hit rates tho if anyone has parsed that (especially in regards to agi/dex).

My fear is a pvp formula that totally fucks you on accuracy if you fight an equal or higher level player.

yeah i miss a shit ton in pve, not sure if its as bad in pvp but ive noticed in pvp levels have a huge impact, good luck fighting someone 2 levels above you, you'll swing air.

its hard to solo as a paladin due to the miss ratio being so high, i solo light blues.
