 | Disconnection Issues Hi guys, first post. Started playing P1999 about a week ago, and I've been loving it so far, so many memories! Unfortunately I've been having some disconnection issues that have been getting worse. I started while I was at my parents house, and everything was fine, but I have since moved back to my own place, and that's when the issues started. I have been disconnecting seemingly randomly, sometimes it is several hours after logging on, sometimes minutes. My ping is generally good though I get occasional lagspikes, sometimes these precede the disconnect by several minutes, sometimes the disconnect comes without warning. Today has been worse than ever, I haven't stayed online longer than about 15 minutes in one go. I looked through this forum for clues; - This thread suggests it might be a problem with dynamic IP, but looking at whatismyip.com my ip hasn't changed during the last couple of hours and I've been disconnected several times. - This one suggests firewall issues, but I tried disabling windows firewall to no effect. My ISP is O2 in the UK, I have a wired connection to the router, I have opened port 5998 as suggested on the eqemulator website. I have tried with a clear connection (no other computers on network, no other programs requiring network access). I am running out of ideas here, so any help would be appreciated. | ||

Mad props to you son. Have you tried disabling your AV. I seem to hear this can be temperamental with the game (it definitely was on classic)

 | Its just a coincidence, I just happened to get P1999 working while I was visiting my parents! Anyway I made an exception for the EQ directory and eqgame.exe from the resident shield in AVG Free 2012 and it seemed to do the trick, thanks. Come to think of it, AVG Free updated from 2011 to 2012 around the time the problems started, so it was probably that and not the change of ISP. | ||

 | Spoke too soon, after a nice long session the last couple of days, DC fever has restarted today, even with anti virus off. | ||

 | ....Why do people use anti-virus other than Windows Security Essentials? Get with the times, people. | ||

 | Same here. Normally never have any problems at all, this morning I'm getting disconnects followed by 10-15 minutes of temporary IP block when I try to log back in. | ||
