I decided to stay in tonight, and cool my heels after the drama of the marie* incident over the past few weeks. Well I quickly grew restless as my habitual need to go out drinking on the weekend kicked in. So I went to the supermarket and lo and behold, there sat a large selection of delicious Oktoberfest beers, chilling in the refrigerated section. I honed in on the safe and easy pick, Sam Adams oktoberfest, I don't really like it, I feel like it's too timid in its flavor, but it's good, in a mild way. Before picking it up, I reconsidered seeing Dundee had an Oktoberfest selection, and only 6.99. Now where oktoberfest beers are concerned you have a large variety of choices, and it goes from pungent to bud light with a pumpkin seed spit in it. So when going with the unknown you risk forcing down some pretty shitty beers on some nights. Luckily this Dundee Oktoberfest delivered the goods as I heartily drink the first one.
Now oktoberfest beers come in all types - ales, lagers, porters, even stouts. This is a lager deep amber in color, inbetween a light summer brew and a 'heavy' winter lager, matches the transition of the seasons perfectly. The flavor is surprisingly robust, a very sweet and thick flavor without being over the top like some of the dogfish sweeter varieties. Leaves me wanting more, but not the way blue moon does, it gives a nice finish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7movKfyTBII&ob=av3e *priveleged KA information
