Error 1017

Hi all,
So I've been playing for a couple of months now with no problems until the other day. I logged on, picked the server, the screen went black and then, a minute later, back to the log-in screen. I logged back on and got the "error 1017: cannot connect to server, blah blah, this is usually temporary" message.
Now its almost a week later and I'm going through some serious withdraw. I've looked through all the other threads about this and the only one I saw where someone posted about getting back on was when it just started working again.
If there is anyone who has had this happen and knows, from experience, how to fix it please let me know.
I've already double checked my install, host port, and the "patchme" is correct. The game has worked for a few months now with no problems. I pinged the server and came back with an average of 97ms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need my Evercrack.
