Have been on both sides of this issue, as the seller of an MQ and the buyer of an MQ. People load up quest npcs with the easy-to-get items (like velious armor gems), then as soon as somebody comes along to do an MQ the seller gets the reward and loses his MQ, and the buyer gets nothing. The buyer is then forced to totally stiff the seller, or pay them anyway for nothing. It's just an awful situation for both parties.
I know they've stated in the past they don't get involved with MQs that go wrong, but it does seem like a pretty clear example of defrauding other players. You just aren't defrauding a specific player, but you're certainly removing an item from somebody under false pretenses. I'm of two minds about MQs in general, I can see the arguments for and against. At this point in the server's life though they are often the only way to ever get certain items, especially for people like me who have somewhat of a real life and can't sock dragons like I used to.

And before somebody mentions it, no killing quest NPCs does not clear their inventory. Quest items are stored in a separate database. The only way to clear their quest inventory is to complete the quest or a hard server reset.

Yeah SS chain legs and multiple Skargus heads down the drain here. The worst part is even if you're doing turn ins for your own toon if this issue occurs CSR won't provide any support because someone else prior to you turned in a portion of the quest you're completing and therefore they deem it as an MQ.
Definitely should be research and a system of warning/ban/account termination for anyone involved in doing this proactively by CSR.

This is hilarious.
Its like the guy hates (the concept of) MQ soooo much that she will pop a few quest gems on various Quest NPCs. He goes off to a corner of Norrath the snicker to herself. Coincidentally completing more MQs than anyone else in the game! Also. Its prolly a GM/CSR preventing mudflation (too laaaate).

Man, if it was a GM/CSR that would make my entire year. SCUMMY practice, should be bannable, but MQ's are really a sort of a grey area anywho. I don't think the devs should waste time on them, so I'd rather see no changes here.
In a PERFECT world though, it would be nice if you could hail an NPC and get a list of what they're holding. That would be just ACES.

This sucks. Sorry to hear about not being able to buy pixels. Maybe they should just disable MQ and let people do their own quests.
