Question :(

If someone was at (hopefully) the lowest point in their life and was really only ever at peak performance while dominating this crazy game we love, they'd be pretty fucked, right? No-one out there would have a foothold available or anything; eq is an addiction that no halfway house understands, but what about an enabler? Would someone see value in a sage that can operate a keyboard like a Jedi wields a saber?

Le sigh... Le boohoo

...Asking for a friend...

If you base your sense of self-worth on stuff you do or have done in a game then I would say you are well and truely fucked. I'm sorry but nobody cares about the gaming skills of some sad and lonely nerd. Except maybe a few other sad, lonely nerds.

I'm not trying to act superior because my life is certainly nothing to brag about. Just the fact that I frequent this site is pretty strong evidence that I'm something of a misfit in the real world as I suspect most people on this site are. If I had any helpful wisdom to tell you I would share it, but I don't.

One thing; when you are feeling down doing physical labor can help.

You can get the url for an image by viewing user post history. ('Find all posts by username')

That said the set avatar function has been funky for a minute now.

Sounds almost like OP was asking for a roommate situation or something. If that’s the case, try to figure that out asap. Most public shelter situations are a nightmare. Halfway houses are a bit better, but there are some sketchy ones as well, just depends on how it’s run

But maybe I misunderstood

You nailed it.

Also, software engineer, so keyboard warrior.

Oh you should be fine. A nerdy-type software engineer is a pretty ideal roommate situation. This is especially compared to people who party, people who do hard drugs, etc. If you are a neat, reliable loner, you are just about the perfect roommate for most people

I always try to go to either co-workers or friends/fam when looking for roommates, and luckily I was always able to find someone from those. If you don’t have those options, I think there’s sites like roommates.com that do background checks. It’s always a bit of a gamble when going with some random, so you’d want as much screening as you can get
