Default Blacksmiths??

I have posted in the EC forum to no avail. I saw the list of blacksmiths that were stickied there from a year ago, but none of them seem to log on anymore (perhaps they are on just another toon).

I am looking to aquire some medium fine steel/plate armor, but I am having a hard time finding any sellers (none infact) in auctioning in EC and in the EC forum.

If anyone can point me to a current blacksmith of high enough level to make a full suit of fine plate/steel I would most appreciate it.

Thank you!

It costs more to make fine steel then you'd spend buying the class specific armor for whatever it is you want to play, which is also better then fine steel.

Your best bet would be to pick up a suit of banded mail for now and then pick up the quested pieces later.

Pretty much this. Smithing and Tailoring didn't really become overtly useful until the LoY tradeskill overhaul.

As a smith who's only gotten to banded armor (115) I can garuntee that you won't be buying Fine Plate at a reasonable upgrade price over Banded. Skilling up to Banded takes a few hundred plat, skilling up to Fine Plate after that takes a few thousand. Plus, the material costs are so high (up to 20pp just for some of the molds) that there is no way in hell that you will find it any cheaper than about 50pp per piece (assuming the seller wants to make little/no profit, and not taking into account the amount of cash the smith had to put into his skill to make the crap.). Just as an example, the material cost for a Fine Plate BP is around 80pp if you get the low quality pelts and make leather padding yourself.

EDIT: TL;DR: Buy Bronze.

Whenever they add orante as the gap, fp will pop its head on market every now and then.

At 115 skill i made the all the animated pieces of fp....took 800p and only got 4 skil ups. Still cheaper than buying Ro or Mithril.

Edit= Considering the only sets cheaper are bronze and banded....at 30p bracer to 90p chest, fp is still a decent and cheap upgrade for folks.
Also add in the fact its the only set that can be dyed in classic.

I've had smiths make me fine plate before, but it's rare because it's such a pain to skill up that high. If you DO find a smith capable of making it, it's cheap enough that it's worth getting over more expensive armor sets if you don't have the money for them. Don't count on finding such a smith, though.

As someone who's sold fine plate for a long time, a full suit runs about 1300. If you're a Paladin or SK this is significantly cheaper than Ro/Darkforge.

If you're interested in it PM me. I can do large orders and have a lot of leather padding in stock. 188 smithing here.

I dont remember making full sets for under 800p even after making my own padding.
i mean i could,. but iirc 800p breaks just about even
still need to make a little for time, (+ any running around for small/large molds)

*btw, i dont play atm, so no need to keep an eye out LOL
