Default Crashing *sort of* Ritually After 10 seconds of log in

My shadowknight has been crashing after 10 seconds of login time. Suddenly everything will stop on the screen, and my screen gets minimized from full screen to a blackened out window of eq. During this time I am still able to hear sounds of everything going on around me. If I type to my party they are still able to read my text.

If I play in windowed mode, it will just freeze. I've tried every resolution but nothing works. It does however work when I play my char on my gf's computer.

Strange enough my other character in rivervale *misty thicket* hasn't encountered this problem, and it seems like it always happens to my shadowknight in Butcherblock right before I get to the zone cavern to Gfay.
(stay away from that spot I know), but it happens in other places randomly as well.

Anyone have any ideas of what's going on? I'm racking my brain to figure it out. I'm using windows xp if that helps. Thanks again forums =)

This happens to me sometimes when my virus scanner or windows update decides I need to give it attention. Hitting alt+enter twice (waiting for screen to reset between alt-enters) fixes it every time for me.
