Default Mage and < > Duo

I am trying to decide which class to duo with a friend's mage.

The classes I am interested in are; Wizard, Rogue, Druid, Shaman, and a Cleric. Well I have already crossed off rogue due to monsters auto attacking the player before a pet. So that leaves the other ones.

Anyone have any information on the benefits of each of these classes in this duo or benefits to having each of these classes in raids? Please correct me if I am wrong, it has been a while.

I remember the Wizard being close to highest damage output between all classes, but can't remember if this is true in Velious. Also Wizards have the benefit of porting and evac. Seems like this class would work well with the magician, helping damage the monster while the mage healed pet. Not sure about their raid desirability.

The Shaman has the best buffs and slows in the game, and would be able to heal the magician's pet while he nuked. I am weary about the Shaman, I don't think many will be needed in a raid, so that might remove that possibility in the future.

Cleric could heal the Magician's pet and would be highly desirable in a raid not much more to say about that class.

Druid could heal the Magician's pet, would be able to port, great damage shield. I can't say how much they would be needed in raids.

Any post are appreciated, thanks.

Shaman. Haste your pet, slow the mob. Heal your pet. Sow. Canni. Wont have much downtime in that duo, Shammy will get pet at 34 and then youll just sit back and watch the exp fly. Theres like 500 people on this server, don't go based on the fact that you think they wont be needed in a raid.

Shaman really is the superior choice, between slows, buffs, heals, cani for regen, and the ability to debuff the snot out of mobs, it's a pretty obvious choice imo.

If you're really lax on shaman I'd say maybe a wizard and that's just for the ability to add in ports. But you're going to have to be really on the spot with agro if you go wizzie.

Id steer clear of cleric and druid if you're thinking long run only because there's already 10 times as many of those as shaman / wizzie.

Ultimately play what you'll have fun playing.

Any slowing/healing/cc class.

In my opinion.. it would be:

Shaman>Cleric>Magician>Chanter>Druid?Bard

Shaman is definitely the most usefull duo partner here. They just can do so much to supplement the mage. Speed/slow/hp buff/abilities buffs/nuke/dot/extra pet/regen. They are CRAZY!!

Shamans are definitely highly valuable for raids too so dont worry about that.
