Default The 7-Clans of Guk

Book 1: Reproductive Secretions & Habitat Morphing

Penned & Pondered By: Shaquilleos, Gatecaller Conjuror, Scribe to the <Dark Men of Odus>

Part 1: Reproduction

Gestation Period: 165 ticks
Ideal Temperature: 18°C
Humidity: 100%
Ample Food-source: Slain Antonicans

After spending several seasons with the Frogloks of Guk, it is observed individuals reproduce asexually. Fertilized eggs are produced from their oviducts when ideal conditions are met. Each Guk Froglok has a shadowy discoloration where the cloaca normally resides. Unfertilized eggs are produced in times of famine for an alternative food-source. The Frogloks are able to reintroduce nutrients initially passed by their digestive system by ingesting the unfertilized egg matter. The ideal setting for their nest is represented by the current home we observe them in; a fungal cavern soaking in Froglok secretions at a balmy temperature. However, these conditions we have learned are unnatural.

Requirements for Egg Fertilization met 99% of the time in Upper Guk.

Antonican Exhibit 1: Pamila
Effect: Mind Warp (slimed)
Observation: Pamila was observed in a semi-mind controlled state. Willfully walking, semi-nude, into the Froglok Warden's room. She drooled and babbled nonsense of daydreams, of forming a heroic "trio" to occupy the camp. I expertly moved our full group to this area in order to protect ourselves from the enthralled usurper and inevitable stampede.
Conclusion: Weak minded Antonicans are easily manipulated chemically by this substance.

Anecdotes:

Note how Froglok excrete warps the environment as well as the minds of the Antonicans blundering into this dreary hole. They endanger their own safety, move carelessly, and lack any magical talent to navigate the Frogloks' primitive den. The slime amplifies their shortcomings even further. They barge into rooms full only to flee with crowds of beasts in pursuit.

Part 2: Habitat

Limiting Factors of Higher Learning:

1. Singular, concentrated population of genetic phenotype.
2. Slime inert outside of Guk.
3. Antonican overcrowding.

Exploration of nearby, unoccupied, caverns yield an alien environment in comparison to Guk. Even on the edge of Innothule Swamp; they are cold, drafty, and support only the hardiest (or stupidest) creatures. The Frogloks seem capable of altering their environment to suit their reproductive benchmarks. The slime not only insulates and confuses prey, it also improves their locomotion and ability to carve new caves and tunnels.

Collection proved futile; once the slime left Guk, it dried into worthless dust with no fantastic properties.

To be proven through experimentation would require the culling of the Guk Frogloks from existence. This would hypothetically allow the cave system to retake it's original, ancient state. Normally routine, between the rate of reproduction and lack of census for dens that share these Froglok genetics; it is my recommendation to enforce overpopulation control only. If the species in Guk evolved separately from their cousins, then we have no other example of this creature.

Anecdotes:

Relocation? Would it be feasible to cultivate a new habitat by translocation of mature individuals to a new cavern on Odus? Potentially allowing us to experiment with a new sister colony of Frogloks in our backyard. Mayhaps we have found a new neighbor for our friends the Kerra...
