Classic Meditate

I find the idea of Classic Meditate very interesting.

First. In classic until level 35+ you have to open the book and click the meditate button.

What gave the original Everquest players the tip that at 35 you can just sit and gain the benefits from meditate? Was it in the instruction book or just some found knowledge?
