AWE32 ingame music captures
Doing some in-game recording on an old soundblaster. First run I was an idiot and had Windows set to Mono because of some busted headphones I use sometimes. It also mono'd the recording. Wondered why it sounded weird...
setup: Windows XP SP3 Creative Labs AWE32 CT3980 PC ISA Sound Blaster w/2 16MB simms RCA out of headphone jack and into a USB creative soundblaster's MIC in. Driver's the one that Microsoft had on-hand. Not sure if a different one would make any impact. Probably not. I'm keeping all the audacity project files if someone wants to take a better whack at cleanup. Available upon request. I did all that recording and then realized that the client wasn't actually loading the soundfonts into the sound card's memory, likely due to me using Windows XP with default Microsoft drivers. Renamed the sf2 files and nothing changed. All recordings were apparently with the onboard wavetable ROM samples. Stay tuned to the live thread for updates. Might be a while before I figure out a real fix. Further ROM recordings available upon request, but nobody ever heard EQ with the onboard awe32 ROM soundfont, even though it sounds pretty sweet.
