![]() Hello all.
Been watching many YouTube vids over the last few years on this server so I decided to take a trip down memory lane and give nostalgia a go! Played a long time ago back on ayonae ro server (merged with tribunal just before I quit) used to play a bard and a necro back in the day then finished up on a beastlord, been so long since I played I will assume I have forgotten how to play! Ha! Deciding on a barb shaman (never played both a barb or a sham) or some sort of Druid, both appealed to me back in the day but just never got round to playing them so thought what the hell [You must be logged in to view images. Just wanted to say hi [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] anyone got some advise for a new player be appreciated [You must be logged in to view images. ![]() Welcome [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] both are good choices for people without much time - people will say don't go Barb for the shaman, but I think do whatever you want to do. Troll Regen is pretty nice, but not essential, especially for someone who is playing pretty casually.
I'd say that druids come into their own a bit earlier than shamans, and are a much cheaper class to level, but both can solo well from early on ( although I find that shamans soloability takes a bit of a hit from 15-24ish). You'll have lots of fun, good luck out there!

![]() Welcome back to EQ.
My main is a barbarian shaman and my highest alt is a halfling druid (halfling for the xp bonus), and I can attest that they are both great starting choices. Neither one needs starting gear: my main started without any and did fine, and I only gave my druid a single item (a Goblin Ghazugi Ring); he is still naked in about half of his slots ... at level 45. My advice: go for the druid if you want the best character to support your other future characters (as the druid can earn money for them porting, transfer items between them, etc.). Go for the shaman for the best character at level 60 (shaman can solo things other characters can't, are more desired in groups than druids, etc.). Oh, and if you do go Druid, definitely learn to animal charm.

![]() Yeah, I would say start with a druid too if you are equally interested in both. Easier to make money for alts and utility in ports and such is great. Make it on a separate account than your alts as well if you can so that friends can help you with ports/pl for your other chars as well.

![]() Welcome! I think choosing a "good" race is probably the best choice for playing casually. Starting out, merchants and guards are your best friends and good races have so much more of both.
If you decide on Barbarian Shaman, the http://wiki.project1999.com/Tribunal_Initiate quest is awesome and if you're gutsy can be done at level 2 or 3. It gives you a decent necklace that summons a good weapon for new players.

![]() Or you could go evil if you dont mind the extra leg work to sell...
1. It means you have way more opportunity to kill mobs not open to "good" aligned characters. 2. Evil has better roleplay value. 3. Troll + Innoruuk = snare necklace which is handy on a shaman. 4. Look up the 6 minute bard diet on the wiki and tell me that isn't appealing, kill bards...evildoer [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
