Default Monk vs Bard

Thinking about making a monk or bard and was curious to hear the community's view of each based off the following questions: Chances of completing epic? Server saturation? Chances of getting into a raiding guild? Gearing difficulty? Farming ability?

Epic is far easier on monk.

Bard farms better.

Bard can be pretty much naked i hear but monk gear is fairly cheap too.

I would say more chance with bard with getting into raid guild.

both classes are very overplayed, seems like over half the server has one of each. imo bard is the better choice because of some of the mechanics available: charm, mez, lull, run speed, invis, etc

if youre good at either, you wont have a problem.

Chances of completing epic? Monk is vastly easier but Bard isn't as hard as it used to be with the Undead Bard available now.
Server saturation? Both classes are fairly popular, but Monks are one of the most popular classes on the server. That being said, you probably won't have any issues getting groups as a Monk because they stack extremely well for single group content. Bards, as always, are desirable for pretty much any group and can even tank if you gear properly.
Chances of getting into a raiding guild? As Monk, you're going to have to bring some serious talent or high playtime in order to be desirable to endgame guilds. Bards have it easier here.
Gearing difficulty? Monk definitely harder to gear. Bards can level pretty much naked.
Farming ability? Tough call, Bards can sell PL services and farm in some areas where Monks would have trouble. Monks can get into areas where Bards would not be able to, and are much more durable with a more practical form of damage output. Bard is probably better farmer as there's always a market for a quality PL service.

Monk

Monk

Either

Bard, monk only need weapon, haste and magic shoes to be effective in groups to 60

Not sure how effective swarming is for cash, but monks are masters of farming greens.

Monk is fun and easy. Bard is for assholes and hyperactive masochists with a touch of brilliance.

I have a Monk and a Bard

Epic - Monk you can solo most of it until the end, Bard is still a huge PITA needing Phinny and Trakkanon pieces.

Server saturation - server is saturated with every class, but there are WAAAY more Monks, but monks also bring the DPS that groups need. Bards fizzle out high end and are optional

Raiding guild? You can play any class and get into Awakened to Aftermath as long as you dont have a job or any respect for yourself/personal time.

Farming - aside from PLing people Monk is the better farm class. Charming solo as a bard is a crap shoot and high end their songs are not effective. Fungi monk on the other hand can do quite a bit and also FD if it goes south.

Gearing - the great deception of EQ is that gear matters, for 75% of the classes it does not. You can spend a sh!t load of money on either class if you so desire. Bard has cool illusion clicky masks and armor, Monk has CoF/Fungi/Beads.

Both classes are great at pulling and require active play

If you like to have a lot of options and don't get frustrated by a lot of micro management, go bard.
If you like to have a more easy role and like to have that great "get out of jail" power (FD), go monk.

Both classes can be a lot of fun. Being a good bard takes more work though.

If you swarm to level, Bard, if not I would go with Monk, it will probably be more fun.
