Default Diversity in Trakanon's Teeth

On Live, TT was full of a variety of mobs all the time: frogloks, trakasaurs, cockatrices, sabertooth cats, erollisi mantraps, and undead iksars (ghosts and skellies). Possibly more I can't remember right now.

I've seen these mobs in the zone, so I know they can spawn - but many of them are a rare sight indeed. I believe the reason is that the frogloks are aggressive to everything but the undead. I'm guessing that they all spawn from the same table, and eventually the zone is entirely frogs and undead.

I once witnessed a froglok in the zone killing a cockatrice - so I know my theory is at least partially correct.

I'm not sure how to prove that these mobs did not fight each other in the classic era except by recounting from memory. I'm sure many folks would agree though.

Few threads on the issue from over the years. After a few hours all the animals are cycled out it seems.

Poll is leaning my way... http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=222840

I found some supporting evidence here: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/z...00320875427069

"The critter mobs (cat, raptor, plant, bird) are all warriors - they have no special attacks or effects, though they can hit hard and fast. They can also be SoWed by wandering Froglok shaman so sometimes they run faster than normal. The Hangman is hasted (because of the haste item he carries)."

Buffed ... not killed. I think he was mistaken and the mobs were just innately fast, but it's still good evidence against hostility.

I must apologize - after reading the sticky again I realized that what I've posted here is an NPC Spawn Issue rather than a Game Mechanics issue. If I can't get any traction with this thread I'll try to dig up some more data and re-post it correctly at some point in the future.

If someone could change it for me instead, that'd be great!

P.S. ... poll is up to 13-3 in favor of peaceful frogloks [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Does Sundawg still work here?

I would love to know more about why the frogs are killing the other live mobs and ignoring the undead. Was a change made to cause them to be aggressive? I know a little about faction tables and modifiers as they pertain to PCs, but I'm curious if it's the same mechanism that drives them to attack other mobs.

I've read many, many vintage guides for this zone, and not one of them says anything about mobs attacking each other. It seems like a pretty big thing to leave out, given how it would affect people running the cycles.
