![]() Hey there, im looking to make a mage twink and was wondering what would be most bang for my buck with about 10-15k worth of gear.
Obviously nothing is better for a new mage than focus items so please exclude those because i will ofcourse grab those [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Thanks!

![]() Add a half decent robe, try and get all slots covered with something more than cloth...stuff like gatorscale sleeves should be p cheap, and some of the loam pieces aren't bad either.

![]() All 4 Focus items
Wooly Spider Silk nets (I'd say spent like 5k getting about 10 of these) Maybe 3-4K on basic INT/Mana Gear Spells / recharge cash I suggest getting 10 root nets because the major thing a magician lacks solo is roots. Earth pet can root but it's not reliable. When fighting blue cons your pet can typically handle a mob solo pretty easily and you can reclaim and nuke to kill. But the problem is double mobs. You can't CC them at all, that's where the root nets come in. Use 1 charge to off root a mob if you get 2 mobs. Having that utility available is worth more than dumping that money into just a slightly larger mana pool IMO.

![]() Can get a Brazier of Elemental Summoning to get you through the first 12 levels pretty quickly and access to better spells.

![]() 1. Jboots
2. Spell/research money. research your own spells by pluggin your points directly into research. Much better than relying on others to make your spells. 3. INT gear (Loam will carry you from 1 to 60) I didn't mention focus, because like you said that's obvious.

![]() If you are planning on soloing you can get away with just having the fire pet focus to start with. The fire pet will be the best solo pet until level 50+
The Wooly Spider Silk Nets are essential, I carry around 9 on my Mage. EDIT - Oh, and get a copy of Monster Summoning II to start using at level 50...It will be your best option from 50-57ish | ||

As for Fire pet, I didn't use it much. I used mostly water from level 4 to 50 and recommend it. More HP, dps is the same as fire and all you have to do is DS the pet and it's good to go. Plus water will handle sticky situations better than the weak (hit points) fire pet. http://wiki.project1999.com/Magician#Pet_Information

![]() 10-15k to twink your mage? Spend 8k (including JBoots assuming you have to pay for them) and keep the rest of the cash to buy your level 51+ spells.
