Default Question for Shamans

Hello all.

I have a quick question in regards to Shamans in group. (Keep in mind this is pre-60, so no Torpor!)

I recently grouped with a Shaman that casted Canni quite frequently, his health would get down to the 30% range while fighting mobs. He would get agro and I would toss him a heal before he would die.

Question being:

Are Shaman's supposed to self heal through Canni's or are the Cleric's supposed to be keeping them healed through it? Whats the procedure or intended notion as how to proceed?

Let him die next time, its his own damn fault. If hes slowing, @ less then 40% life he needs to learn his class better.

Some shamans live on the false premise that the less HP they have the faster they regen mana it seems. Shaman may go down to 30... in dire emergencies. Normal is staying above 70%. If you don't sit on 100% you are not wasting any mana. That's all there is to know about that.

It depends how the group is going.
If your mana is fine because all mobs are slowed and puller/tank are not taking damage, then he can request heals to keep his mana up.
However, this should be discussed, not expected.

If you struggle with heals, it is his job to stay safe. Of course save him if you face a train or a bad pull.

Consider that if you don't heal him, he may die. It costs more mana to res than to heal.

He should not be operating at a constant 30% hp though.

Ah, thanks for the input guys! I wasn't sure if there was some unspoken etiquette in regards to canni shamans in the group.

I wasn't attempting to flame or vent in any way.

I appreciate it guys!

Let them die. A shaman needs to manage their own hp/mana pool. Played a raid shaman on live and play one in groups on p99. I tell our other healers not to heal me and I will not cannibalize below 50 so as to not endanger my own life and if they do they are essentials just giving me their mana. Some shamans rely on regen others rely on direct heals and they have varying levels of effectiveness.

As an iksar i use regen to heal back up, not self heals or healers, and i generally try not to go below 50%hp.
If they are going low alot and getting aggro alot due to it, then its their fault if they die, not yours.
I will only canni down real low during med time when no mobs are gonna be coming into camp, and again - i wouldnt expect a healer to heal me - they need to med up too!

TBH it depends on the group. If the shaman is struggling on mana I'd hit him with symb on top of hero and start ch cast when he hit 30%. Obv done out of combat but that way my CH would be super mana efficient and he would never oom and as a Cleric I generally never oom unless no enchanter.

Hitting him with a CE is also a fairly efficient method. CH is better though.

If the shamans mana is getting sucked away from routine upkeep and slows and the other healers are sitting pretty on mana - yeah they should work together to keep the shaman rolling. Consider how much healing and mana the slows are saving you.

In general I try to never canni low unless it's an emergency.
