Default Pet xp penalty still?

With class experience penalties going away, pretty sure I know the answer ... but is the pet experience penalty still in effect ?

Class penalties and pet exp penalties don't go hand in hand.

Your pet used to be considered a hybrid because it could self-ds and melee, so it took a 140% xp split. Now it takes a 100% split over 50% damage.

There was no patch note for pet xp penalty, so i assume it's still in effect. Everybody has a way around it, so it's only inconvenient. The easiest and best solution in my view is simply grouping. Yesterday i had a group with 4 pets, it was really nice. Highest in group was 24 and we were doing some level 30 mobs. Our mage was "tanking" with his pet, he said he felt like a cleric [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Mage tanking by committee actually sounds pretty cool

I've always felt the pet experience penalty was akin to robbery. My favorite way to play a mage is to just heal the pet instead of nuking. Even at lvl 60 I solo this way. But because my play style is relaxed I get half the exp.

I think that was abolished, but in a way later expansion. Honestly I do not recall but something in my head is reminding me that pet xp loss was removed at some point of time.

It got added because of AFK necros farming exp with the 49 pet in old world after Kunark came out. Not sure when they removed it but I don't remember it being an issue with my Beastlord in Luclin.
