Quadding more than 4 mobs?

What happens if you have 8 mobs bunched up and you lightning strike them?

I grabbed a few mobs of different level ranges and tested it out.

It looks like the spell will target the lowest level mobs in the bunch, even if those targets do NOT include your target.

I had a white con targeted and even though I cast on him every time, the spell hit the blues and greens in the pull.

Is it random and that's just how it worked for me or is this actually how it works.

Wondered this myself. Maybe it's a range thing? Closest 4 get hit?

Every try PBAoE Kiting? Now thats a rush of risk/reward!

I remember back probably during PoP on live, I would gather groups of 8-12 spirocs and quad them, thanks to KEI. In my experience, the same 4 kept getting hit as long as i kept the same one targeted. I don't know if p99 behaves the same way, though.

When I tested it earlier, it was definitely the same 4 that got hit. But what was weird was even though I had a high level mob targeted, the AOE didn't hit him, it hit the lower level mobs in the pull.
