Default 2nd account question... is it allowed?

Greetings!

I thought about making a seperat account (this would be my 2nd account) to create a cleric on, so I also have the opitunnity to have a friend log in my cleric and ress my other chars upon a death... that seem to happen from time to time [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

So my question is, am I allowed to create a 2nd account on P99?

As a side question.. can 2 RL friends "share" this 2nd account, and both spend hours on leveling the cleric.. so we can help eachother with resses upon a exp death.

I know many people swap PLing, and also most guilds share a wide range of accounts for raiding. I have a few friends whom we share a cleric account for resses and also swap powering lowbees for fun.

The problem arises when one of the 'friends' with a shared account decides it no longer needs to be shared, which does seem to happen from what I read here.

If 2 accounts that are logged in at the same time have a different IP, they are fine.
If they have the same IP, they need to have an IP excemption. If they have that they are still subject to increased scrutiny. If their behaviour can be interpreted as boxing (boxing tests are made), they are basically screwed, probably banned for live.

I'm glad this thread was posted, I have seven characters on my current (only) p99 account and was considering starting a second account, but I really dont want to get banned. A question about the fine print: is there any amount of time necessary between switching accounts? Can I /q one account and then immediately log on another account or will that raise some eyebrows?

i have three server accounts and do this all the time. As long as they are not logged on at the same time, you are good.

I'm not sure if its my high latency playing from the boonies in the UK, but sometimes when I'm swapping accounts quickly from one character to another I get a "temporary IP ban" message. First time I saw it it scared the crap out of me. However I just wait 5 - 10 seconda and van log in np. Happens to me on a regular basis so your fine to swap o rama.

Are you camping or using /quit? If you use /quit you just go LD and it takes a minute for the server to register you logging off (during which time you can die too)

People who have IP exemptions on their accounts will use /quit and immediately log in another character. This really needs to be a banable exploit of the system. It allows for some really ridiculous character swaps that shouldn't be possible. You can camp out 2 clerics in the same place, CH on 1 until oom, quit out and immediately log the other one on in <30 seconds and keep CHing for example.

Players without an IP exemption who /quit have to wait 2-3 minutes before logging on another character.
