Default Really stupid MMO ad. (RANT)

I notice sometimes on this site and others there's an ad circulating with a pic of some hot blonde chick character art that looks a little like EQ's Firiona Vie, and it says "MALE GAMERS ONLY". I hope marketing this stupid is not really working.

Most gamers are, in fact, male. This is not a good thing. An exception was maybe EQ live in the heyday. I was like 16 when I used to play EQ back in like 2003 / 2004, and I actually met girls on there. I knew a girl from North Dakota, and another bored 30-something housewife who wanted to get all "The Graduate" with me.

This was alright, and a lot better than knowing I was playing only with an audience of 30 and 40-something software programmer neckbeards.

So the question is, why advertise your crappy indie MMO "for men only"? I understand if it's a gay MMO, but with a naked'ish girl on the banner ad, I'm guessing that's not the point. Instead, I imagine it's supposed to be some kind of bro-topia for straight dudes who like gaming and hot girls. Yeah, bro!

I've seen bro-topias before, they're called college frats, and guess what happens when you put a bunch of bored dudes in a house together night after night? They start acting gay and doing masturbation contests and shit.

The point is, it's a stupid ad to advertise a game with. If you want straight men to download your game, advertise it as "20 SOMETHING WOMEN ONLY" and men will sneak in by droves.
