Another old player

I stumbled across this project while reliving some old EQ memories.
So the WOW comes from my surprise that I'm not alone in missing the original EQ.

I was a beta player back in 99 (I guess) then played for a cpl years or more. Played on Tunare, was in the first ever raid party to take down Nagafen and then later break POF
Tunare was a trailblazer back then.
That's not what I miss the most though, I actually enjoyed the early levels the most, the gnolls at Blackpaw (I may get names wrong) and kiting mobs that were much higher level with a druid and dots.
Had an early pair of golden efreeti boots and the GUK mask that made you turn into a NE and lots of other things. Damn its coming back now LOL
I ended up with several high level (when 60 was the max) characters but the plane raids broke me, we used to stay in there for days on end getting everyone the high end gear they needed, that went on for months. One day I just stopped.

Anyway, I am planning on coming back and trying this all over again LOL

Welcome back! There are a lot of us playing because modern MMOs have dispensed with player interdependence, challenge, and early gameplay to cater for 'casual' end-game re: bait & switch tactics.

The earlier zones - and frustrations - are very much present and a heck of a lot of fun if you enjoy the challenge and old school mechanics. Still as unforgiving as ever, and still offering a variety of playing styles.

One word of caution: decide early on if you wish to resume raiding. With variance (Raid mob spawns randomly inbetween a set time-range either before or after it was next due to spawn), getting out of bed stupid o'clock in the morning is not uncommon.

Welcome! just wanted to say I chuckled at "blackpaw". Looks like you combined the two gnoll dungeons - blackburrow & splitpaw. Close enough though! Also the mask is DE (for Dark Elf)
