![]() Hello everyone!
I really don't want to start a huge Red Vs Blue fight. So hopefully with a few points we can avoid it lol. Basically I want to be able to "raid" nothing hardcore by any stretch. But a few nights a week / weekends would be great. This is obviously all observation but what I do gather is. Blue is just top raids whining over who gets what, when its their turn, simulated repops etc etc. And my personal issue that I do see is, as a necro all the "popular" solo spots are always taken, and with the newer wave of people coming in due to the partnership with Daybreak (WHICH IS AWESOME IM NOT HATING ON IT AT ALL! I'M GLAD MORE PEOPLE ARE HERE!!) [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] So blue just seems "overpopulated" per say? But it is a pain in the butt to log in where i am camped is taken, so i go travel to another spot which is a ton of fun... but that's taken, go to another spot... that's taken. Its nothing that duo / finding a dungeon group cant or hasn't fixed. Sometimes i just want some nice chill camps to i guess "afk" camp between spawns. Red on the other hand seems like alot of fun, i'm only level 6 on my bard just watching the OOC channel and see how the economy, player base, trolling etc is... and it seems like just friendly rivalry which is fine by me, any real asshat seems to get shut down quick. But the bad side for end game it seems like one big bad beefy guild runs the raid scene... which again is cool as hell but does it damage the others experiences? Also for a bard on Red... good idea or bad idea for first toon? I wanted to kinda stray from the Druid, Necro, Shaman first toon because the bard is more of a challenge and with the pvp aspect its good to be able to run away lol! Sorry for the long post, but its a long game that I do love very much, i just would like some cool headed, level responces please, to help me decide before I dump a ton of time into Red or Blue. Thanks everyone for taking the time and for your insight!

![]() Red is more classic in terms of how you'll remember leveling in EQ. A lot of people, particularly rogues you level with on blue will have epics and be geared to the teeth. You'll encounter a few camp lawyers farming for TunnelQuest tokens and they get quite mad/petitiony... and in my experience at least that's got worse on blue as time has passed. Everyone feels entitled, and there's no danger there to stop that attitude.
If you continue on red, you'll see that yes there is 1 main raiding guild vacuuming up all the leveling players it can for a zerg force, but there's also <Fresh> who are a continually growing guild on the server and the real alternative when it comes to getting some raids done. Likely you aren't wearing even a set of bronze on your bard, whereas your blue counterparts are decked out in lambent/singing steel already. Respect is definitely earnt on red. If you're a whiny piece of shit you'll soon get an attitude adjustment, the community runs itself a lot more, and the XP bonus makes the level grind a little more tolerable... it's designed to get you to the end game quicker so you can enjoy frequent pvp. Bards are a great pvp choice, out in the open an experienced bard has a big advantage over most other classes. I play both servers, but I'd recommend red for a more classic EQ experience where you're leveling with others in equally bad gear which requires people to group together to get things done (classic, right?). Most blue players are so well geared, even leveling warriors can be seen soloing and being antisocial. The only thing I will say is... you're going to die, and if you get mad about being killed by a player who wanted a fight, maybe blue is the right choice. What'll it be, OP? ![]() Swish,
That was a solid sale for me, Red99 here we come! Blue is great in its way and I really did dig my time there, but you are correct on everyone being super twinked to the teeth there. While it was fun watching rogues backstab for stupid amounts of damage in HHK... it kinda did take some of the life out of it. The PvP aspect is just great to me, i dont mind dying, i dont mind running back (especially with selo's!) everytime i die i will find more ways to live next time. And as part of having a set of bronze? lol i have my starter sword, cloth bracers, cloth chest and my songs by my side!

![]() Red offers a more realistic gaming experience.
You can quote me on that one.

One thing you'll need but maybe struggle to afford straight away on red is resist gear and HP rings. PM me if/when you want some 55HP rings made at cost (155pp each) and some basic resist gear (+7 MR bracers, +9 MR neck etc). Good luck, make lots of friends and watch out for the occasional fungi twink in CB/Unrest/MM [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
